November 14, 2014 - 4 MONTHS OLD!!!

Happy Birthday Kadin!  Crazy to think that he is already 4 months old.  He weighs around 15 lb now and is laughing and smiling all the time and is just figuring out how to roll over.   He watches everything that's going on around him.

Our last day at the beach and we had a great time at the keiki pool at Wawaloli Beach just south of Kailua-Kona.  Sorry, it's just so hard to pick only one photo!!!

November 13, 2014 - 122 Days Old

It started raining as we arrived at Waialea Beach and there was a mass exodus leaving the area but we loved the cooler weather and I hung out with Kadin under the umbrella while Danial went snorkelling.  Within an hour, the sun was back out and Kadin went for a little dip in a tidepool and then relaxed in the shade on my sarong.  Awesome Day!

November 12, 2014 - 121 Days Old

A day in the native jungle of Hawaii at the Kalopa State Park.  Kadin was awake for most of the hike, and as usual, enjoyed looking up at the canopy.  He also really enjoyed the cooler air at a higher elevation!

We went to Kapoho tide pools and alternated hanging out with Kadin and...
... snorkelling!  It was one of our favorite places.
It was also a great place to try out Kadin's PFD!

November 10, 2014 - 119 Days Old

Kadin takes a nap after breakfast, giving us a chance to break camp.  He loved looking up at all the eucalyptus trees!!
Our next night's accomadations was a screened in room with a comfy bed surrounded by the jungle and all the sounds that go along with that (which means the incessant "kow-kee" of the coqui frogs all night long...)  All three of us slept great and I certainly loved it but not for the sensitive sleeper!

Here is the poor little coqui, displaced from it's original home in Puerto Rico in 1988 and now making so much racket all night long.

November 9, 2014 - 118 Days Old

Sunrise hike back up to the smoking volcanic caldera.  Kadin was not overly impressed but we enjoyed the beautiful colors of the sunrise through clouds and volcanic smoke.

Next, we took a 4 mile hike down into the caldera of Kilauea Iki, a smaller crater that still has steaming vents but is dormant with no recent eruptions nor noxious fumes.  What a surreal landscape - like all the movies about other planets!

Kadin didn't know what to say about that crazy landscape.  He was smiling seconds before this but I liked his expression here... a new one and I'm not sure what the heck he was thinking at that point!

November 8, 2014 - 117 Days Old

We arrived at Volcanos National Park and hiked up to see the Kilauea Caldera at sunset.  The 1/2 mile hike back to the campground in the dark was a highlight for Kadin.

November 7, 2014 - 116 Days Old

We stayed at a B&B Farm south of Kona and finally had a day to enjoy it.  Kadin was a little leary of the geese, which is probably an intelligent assessment of geese's personality!

November 5, 2014 - 114 Days Old

Danial, her brother Doug, his daughter Kaiya, and I all paddled over to Captain Cook's Monument and had a great afternoon snorkelling....
... while Kadin and Grandma Mary Ann spent some quality time hanging out on the lanai.

Kadin's first experience in the ocean!  He loved watching the small waves surge into the little protected tide pool we found.  He actually fell asleep while I was holding him in my lap, half submerged in the water.  Adorable in his Stingray Rashguard Onesie.

November 3, 2014 - 112 Days Old

Kadin's first commercial plane trip.
Wow, take-off is a lot louder than in Mama D's Pacer!
Kadin was fascinated by all of the people on the plane and smiled at them all.
Yay!  We are in Kona, Hawaii!  Can you get me out of this crazy warm onesie?!
