September 5 - 15, 2017 - 3 years 2 months

Daycare dress-up - ladybug outfit with a safety orange construction hat.  And note how he learned from all the girls in daycare how to hold the edges of the skirt up!

Well, we missed the blueberry season this year but didn't want to come home empty handed.  Lots of high bush cranberries everywhere!
What a fun time!  We were at the playground when it started raining so we headed home.  But then I had to pull over at the overlook because there was a rainbow… Pfff. Rainbow.  The next thing I knew, Kadin was running around like crazy, putting all of his firefighter gear on and putting out fires left and right.  We must have spent an hour there, having too much fun!
Hanging out at the Station parking lot, Kadin on his bicycle.  Notice the little froggy harness thing his wearing?  It's a leash!!  It had just arrived in the mail and I was trying it out on him… for use in Mexico and big cities for my little independent explorer.
And, last but not least, Patch, hanging out on the couch with me when Kadin isn't here.

Video:  Kadin putting out "muchos incendios" (many fires)!

Video: Kadin up on the old firetruck and climbing back down.

January 16 - 31, 2017 - 2 years 6 months

Going car shopping.
(If you look closely, his shopping cart is full of cars!)
Aw… Sally loves sleeping with her new buddy.

I have no idea where he got the idea, but suddenly one evening, Kadin started kissing my feet!

Having fun at lunch in Wasilla… this is Kadin's "smile for the camera" smile.

We probably spent an hour at the pet store looking at all the critters.

Sally came with us sledding one day and loved frolicking and rolling in the snow.

This is Kadin's face after Sally flew by him, charging through the snow like the sled dog that she is.  (Obviously, she's even way too fast for the camera!)

January 1 - 15, 2017 - 2 years 6 months

I finally broke down and trimmed Kadin's bangs since they were hanging in his face.  He actually was really good for it!

What a cutie!

Kadin wanted to pull me in the sled!

Kadin missed a day or two of daycare due to a possible pink-eye or some other eye allergy or irritant.  He could barely see when he'd woken up this morning.

Ahhhh, nothing like a relaxing warm bubble bath!

Kadin was wiped out by another kid sledding down the hill as he was hiking uphill (she lost control and veered to the side where everyone was going up).  He got a nice bloody nose from the impact but after about a half hour of crying and cleaning him up, he said he wanted to go sledding some more instead of going home!

Here we are, heading back down the hill.  Weeee!
After the collision, Kadin was obsessed about the safety of others below him and would not go down the hill if someone else was walking up!
Daycare dress up and here's my little bumblebee!

January 20, 2016 - January 26, 2016 - 18 months and 1 week

At the hostel in San Gerardo de Rivas, they had a stone bathtub room, with candles and hot water and pretty homemade soaps.  I suppose it was supposed to be romantic, but we thought it was just good family fun!

In the town of Zarcero, with a church park full of topiary bushes carved into crazy figures and tunnels, it was playtime paradise!

Also in Zarcero, Kadin found his own walking stick and was so excited.  He also really liked watching the students practice their marching drum skills and tried to join them several times.

Just a cute shot of him chillin' on the steps of the Zarcero church.

At the hostel pool in Fortuna, sportin' the shades.

Hummingbird Nest!!!

I got Kadin a little brown dress to wear for better ventilation in the hot weather and easier diaper changes on the trail.  To me, it's no different than a little girl in cargo pants, practical for the situation (and cute too, I think!)
The beautiful cloud forest at 7000', about half way up the Chirripó trail (we didn't hike to the summit, just around the foothills).
