December 1 - 15, 2017 - 3 years 5 months

Kadin pulls another kid with his awesome balance bike on skis during the Wilderness Woman's Contest in Downtown Talkeetna. 

An early gift of my original MatchBox Cars Carrying Case with about 20 of my cars that I've kept for all of these years.  I'm glad he was as excited to receive it as I was to give it to him.

This year we did a "composite" tree with two little sprucelings zip tied together to make one Alaskan Christmas Tree.  

Biking in the gravel pit at sunset – that means at 3:30pm.  Arrrgh!

After all that biking, Kadin didn't even want his hot cocoa and even with a cookie in his hand, he still was about to say, "Me no like fotos, Mama!"  Arrrgh!

March 5 - 15, 2017 - 2 years 8 months

Back in Alaska!  

It was a beautiful day with a biting wind...

Kadin always seems to get these red lower eyelid lesions… always on the right side.  He gets a water balloon compress on it and if he lets me do it easily enought, he gets to play with the balloon afterwards. 

January 6, 2016 - January 12, 2016 - 17 months and 4 weeks

It's so hard to just pick a few photos when you have 300 of them to choose from!!  I did my best…

We left Monte Verde and headed to "Grampa Ninja's", a B&B, in the small town of Barrance, just outside of Punta Arenas.  Fun spot with rolling farmland hills and pretty cliffs by the beach.  Kadin really liked the pool and the cows.

We also went to one of my favorite beaches, Playa Doña Ana, where Kadin had his first encounter with the ocean and crashing waves.  Huge smiles and laughs as I held him up in the waves, letting the foaming swell slosh him around.

The Pizote, also known as a Coati - they were at the entrance to the beach.

 As we left the beach, we saw a bunch of Capuchin Monkeys (Mono Carablanca) playing in a wooded grove.  They were about 6 feet from me.  I had to keep Kadin a safer distance away or he would have run off to join them!

Next, we traveled down the coast to see the crocodiles at the Tarcoles River and then to visit the Carara National Park.  While we were hiking, we had a torrential downpour that lasted about 20 minutes – it was super refreshing considering how overheated we had been earlier that morning!

We packed up and continued traveling south, to the town of Quepos.  

I taught Kadin how to "toast" with the Spanish phrase, "chin chin".  He loves it!

March 24, 2015 - 8 Months, 10 Days Old

We went to visit the Nature Center, where Kadin went to chew on the antler, just like his older brother Buck does! 

For our last night at the campground, we moved into a yurt — cushy padded mattresses, protection from the wind, electricity, and heat were all pretty luxurious for us!

Beautiful sunset on our last day at Cachuma Lake.  

And here is the cutest video ever of a Kadin gigglefest... the trigger to this laughter was me blowing up a Thermarest!
