April 13, 2016 - April 19, 2016 - 21 months

Family Visit!  

Super fun week with Nana Baiba, Butch, Teresa, and Linda.  Kadin had so much fun and felt right at home with the Baltimoron gang.

Had a sweet little fire by the River, not a bad place for an afternoon nap...

 Kadin hangs out at Baiba and Butchie's place, having fun in the tub with Tia Teresa.  He always enjoys his tub-time! 

Yum!  Teresa and Linda cook up some scrumptious Italian spaghetti sauce and Kadin doesn't hesitate to dip into it.

We have an amazing scenic flight in the Alaska Range.   

Baiba is up front, and here's the rest of the crew in the de Havilland Beaver. 

It's a beautiful sunny day on the glacier, and we make snow angels, admire the beauty, and wonder how we got so lucky. 

It was certainly a lot of fun, but not the first time Kadin had ever seen such splendor so he was fast asleep on the way home.

As many times as I see it, I still can't stop trying to capture the massive beauty of the mountains.

And finally, at the end of the week, and a bit late in the season, I tap 3 of my birch trees.  I put two of the spouts low enough for Kadin to reach and he'd grab a spoon and a cup and try pour it out to drink it.  The sweetest yummiest water ever!

June 19, 2015 - 11 Months, 5 Days Old

It's so nice to wake up in the morning seeing the beautiful big Alaskan sky and the hills that go on and on forever.  We all enjoyed a mellow morning breaking down camp and heading back to town.

On a side note, today was the first time he realized we were up high in the sky and on take off he actually got nervous and clung to me and avoided being by the window.  So fascinating how they learn things… must be from all the climbing up our ladder!  On the flight home, he was much calmer.

April 4, 2015 - 8 Months, 21 Days Old

Beautiful afternoon fun on Whistler Glacier – flew out for a quick ski/snowboard run and to enjoy the powder as town turns into a mushy brown slush.  Kadin's first time on a glacier and he now has his own pair of shades!

 We forgot his little baby headset and the adult one kept squishing his cheeks, which looked even funnier when he blew raspberries all the way home!

March 25, 2015 - 8 Months, 11 Days Old

Last day of the trip - got to get a few dips into the ocean while Sonia or her sister Zoe kept an eye on Kadin.  Here is Zoe with her daughter Mia, who was so excited to hang out with "Baby".

And here we are, preparing for a 4 hour direct flight to Anchorage.  Fortunately, we had an aisle seat this time and our neighbor was a father of an 8 year old with another one on the way.  He loved getting some baby time and was a HUGE help!  

March 9, 2015 - 7 Months 23 Days Old

Wow!  Flying solo with an infant is a lot harder than with 2 adults!  And to add to the challenge, my original flight was delayed so I had to rush to catch an earlier flight and ended up with middle seats for both flights down to Oakland.  The good things were that Kadin was a squirmy dream child and people were amazingly helpful and friendly to me, as I'm sure I looked completely frazzled.

March 8, 2015 - 7 Months 22 Days Old

The day before my flight, busy packing and organizing.  Danial was feeling sick from a cold so we laid low at home and enjoyed a quiet family day.  I was so busy packing, oops, forgot to take a picture again.  Here is one from the next day on the airplane... 

January 10, 2015 - 5 Months 27 Days

In the beginning of the flight, Kadin is Mr. Co-Pilot, scanning the horizon and conferring with Momma D...

... but by the end of the flight, he is snuggled up to his other Momma, and doesn't even wake up for the landing.

November 15, 2014 - 4 Months, 1 Day

Yum... I love my fingers!  

Taken on the flight back to Alaska, where one of the attendants proclaimed she wanted another baby (which would be her sixth!) after meeting Kadin.

November 3, 2014 - 112 Days Old

Kadin's first commercial plane trip. Wow, take-off is a lot louder than in Mama D's Pacer!

Kadin was fascinated by all of the people on the plane and smiled at them all.

Yay!  We are in Kona, Hawaii!  Can you get me out of this crazy warm onesie?!

October 23, 2014 - 101 Days Old

Started the day with a call out to vaccinate a dog team - with Kadin observing everything.

Then, we hopped in the plane and headed over near Curry Ridge for an afternoon hike.

Kadin looked around for a while but soon fell asleep, snuggled in his cozy little frontpack. 

It was a gorgeous day on the tundra, and time to go home for dinner.

August 17, 2014 - 34 Days Old

I'm really bad at just picking one photo... but this was a big adventure day for Kadin.  His first plane ride!!  

We went just a short hop to a gravel bar on the Chulitna River; so nice to get out to the peaceful quiet of a big river.  The dogs had even more fun!
