February 24, 2016 - March 1, 2016 - 19 months and 2 weeks

Happy Birthday Nana Baiba!  We decided to play with selfies and blow raspberries all the way to Baltimore.

Later in the week, we hung out with Rachel and her daughter Farah and the two of them tore into the kitchen cabinet and the salad spinner became a hat, the pots and pans were drums, and the measuring cups were just too much fun.

February 17, 2016 - February 23, 2016 - 19 months and 1 week

Beautiful sunny day, so we went down to the pond and I built a little snowhorse for Kadin (who promptly jumped on it and whacked the horse's head off).

We got yet another bike carrying option for Kadin - the WeeRide, a little chair that mounts in front of the adult rider.  He LOVED it, since now he could see everything and even feel the leaning of the bike and try to grab the handlebars and "help out".

A bit of indoor fun after Story Time at the Library.

February 10, 2016 - February 16, 2016 - 19 months

Kadin hangs out with me at the EMS station, and loves running around with the Run Reports Box, which is like his own little suitcase!

I bought some chalkboard tape and drew a little portrait of our family to inspire Kadin to use it.  He promptly scribbled all over it and then broke the chalk into half, tried to eat it, and proceeded to scribble over the wood bench, the stairs, and the walls.  My little artist!

February 3, 2016 - February 9, 2016 - 18 months and 3 weeks

Yay, back in Alaska.  It's nice to be back home, and it's now light out til 6pm which makes me happy. It's also a lot easier to get the blog done when I have only 6 photos to chose from vs over 200!

Vrrooom, Vrrooom!  He loves pushing all of the buttons and pretending he's flying fast through the snow!

Handsome boy with a dog bowl top hat.  We LOVE being silly together these days!

January 27, 2016 - February 2, 2016 - 18 months and 2 weeks

We went to Fortuna and the Arenal Volcano area and did some nice hiking at the base of the volcano. Kadin loved climbing up the jagged lava trails.  By now, we've realized how fun a hostel/hotel is with a pool and try to find one at every place we stay!

Our last stop was one of my favorites - a little beach called Playa Hermosa, not too touristy, lots of Tico visitors, and a mellow ocean to play in.  Kadin made friends with a little girl about the same age and they loved running around and showing each other how to do different things.  Too cute!

January 20, 2016 - January 26, 2016 - 18 months and 1 week

At the hostel in San Gerardo de Rivas, they had a stone bathtub room, with candles and hot water and pretty homemade soaps.  I suppose it was supposed to be romantic, but we thought it was just good family fun!

In the town of Zarcero, with a church park full of topiary bushes carved into crazy figures and tunnels, it was playtime paradise!

Also in Zarcero, Kadin found his own walking stick and was so excited.  He also really liked watching the students practice their marching drum skills and tried to join them several times.

Just a cute shot of him chillin' on the steps of the Zarcero church.

At the hostel pool in Fortuna, sportin' the shades.

Hummingbird Nest!!!

I got Kadin a little brown dress to wear for better ventilation in the hot weather and easier diaper changes on the trail.  To me, it's no different than a little girl in cargo pants, practical for the situation (and cute too, I think!)
The beautiful cloud forest at 7000', about half way up the Chirripó trail (we didn't hike to the summit, just around the foothills).

January 13, 2016 - January 19, 2016 - 18 months

Every kid loves to chase the poor gulls!

Can you see the sloth?!

Mapache (Raccoon) in Manuel Antonio National Park.

Kadin at the beach in Manuel Antonio National Park.

In Sierpe, waiting to catch the boat to Drake Bay, we treated ourselves to a Pipa, or coconut water drink.  Yum!

On the boat...

Kadin had a little puppy friend at our hotel in Drake Bay.  Adorable!

Selfie!

Scarlet Macaw

So much fun playing in the waves in Drake Bay!  One of my favorite beaches.

Damn, he's fast!

Our horseback riding guide - Kadin loved being carried by him!

The ride led us to a gorgeous waterfall and beautiful cool swimming hole.  The water felt great!!

Our little observer, always checking things out...

Caballo!  Kadin giggled with joy during the ride!

Escaping the heat up at San Gerardo de Rivas, a cloud forest at around 1340m or 4500' elevation.

Waterfall on the hike up to a developed hotspring spot.

Super fun hotsprings pool with rocks and fountains and lots of families.

Making friends...
