March 7, 2015 - 7 Months 21 Days Old

Kadin loves to just skip the spoon and grab the whole bowl of food whenever possible!  

We ended the evening with a nice bedtime story snuggled up on the couch with Rivet.  Although he still aims to get the book in his mouth, Kadin is starting to pay a bit more attention to the pictures and touches the faces of people and animals in the books.

March 6, 2015 - 7 Months 20 Days Old

It was a busy day for us in Wasilla - Buck got an Xray (fractured toe!), shopping for stuff for our house (Alaska Industrial), and getting Kadin's passport photo done (no immediate plans, but you never know...)  

Kadin was bored except for when the post office employees were oohing and awwwing over him.

It was the sickie parade today, Kadin and I both had colds, Annie is just slow and arthritic, and Buck has a sprained paw, so we kept the walk short and sweet.  

At least it was warm out (32ºF or so) and it felt nice to get a bit of fresh air.  And it's 5pm and still plenty of daylight! Yay!

I brought Kadin with me to EMT Class tonight and, of course, he was a big hit with all of the students and co-intructors.  Here he is being "tossed" by Carol, one of the other instructors.

Kadin and I took a short walk today in the... RAIN!  Yuck!  But at least we didn't have to wait til summer to try out the rain cover for our backpack.  It was nice and cosy and dry for Kadin. 

And this photo is from yesterday, and took forever to capture... if you look closely, his first two little teeth are emerging!!!

February 20, 2015 - 7 Months 6 Days Old

It was such a fun 2 day trip to the cabin, I just had to post all 4 pictures from today to sum it up.  

 Here is our "dog pile" on the floor.  Cosy, warm, and most importantly, wide enough and on the floor so there was nowhere for Kadin to fall.

And here, Kadin was getting a post-breakfast belly cleaning by Rivet.  He couldn't stop laughing!















Beautiful weather and a beautiful baby.  Damn, I love him!

Taking a quick break before heading back to the cabin and then back to town.  
The snow was so deep up here, the dogs, were swimming in it up to their chests if they left our tracks.

February 19, 2015 - 7 Months 5 Days Old

Fun in the late winter sun!  We went up to Danial's cabin for the night, and Kadin is really starting to stay awake and enjoy the hikes more.

Danial watched Kadin for part of the day, while she worked on our new house.  However, in this household, it's not just the adult humans who are keeping an eye on him!

Kadin picked up a growler from the Pub and was carrying it around with him in his walker!  Fortunately, or maybe he thought it was unfortunate, it was empty.

February 16, 2015 - 7 Months 2 Days Old

Started out the morning with an adorable naked baby rolling around and playing on the bed, but ended the day with a cat stuck in a tree for 5 hours.  Birch, the cat, eventually got himself down and hid under the house until I found him around midnight.

February 15, 2015 - 7 Months 1 Day Old

Kadin is pretty much 100% back to his normal ways — eating with gusto, and trying to grab everything in his reach.  We spent the day baby-proofing the house and getting the playpen set up.

February 14, 2015 - 7 Months Old!

Arrrg!  It happened!  I turned around for a second and Kadin did a double roll uphill over the comforter and fell off the bed.  Poor guy!  First a solid thud, then my scream, then his heart piercing cries.   Fortunately, our baby book said how common it was and what to watch out for, and all he ended up with was a small bruise on his forehead and the tip of his nose.  He was smiling again within an hour, but I felt horrible all day.  Happy Birthday, Kadin.  Oh, and Happy Valentine's Day too!

Mia watched Kadin for a few hours tonight… I think he had a good time!

February 12, 2015 - 6 Months 29 Days Old

Yay!  We are out for another walk in the woods, trying out the ruff.  Kadin stayed awake for at least 15 minutes but then fell asleep and looked super toasty with his cheeks and nose snuggled into the fur.  

Lots of respect out for the eskimo women, raising babies in the arctic.  They know what they are doing!

Kadin had crazy rosy cheeks this morning, either a reaction to the orange wedge he sucked on last night or a sign that he's infected with the same cold I have.  Poor guy.  He sure did enjoy the orange though.

And although he's a bit fussier, he is still happy to smile for the camera!

I safety pinned my detachable fur ruff to Kadin's snowsuit hood to give his face a bit more protection in the cold and wind.  I got the ruff (with a vest) for $7 in a thrift store in Latvia.  A native Alaskan guy thought it was made from wolf fur, which is good for warmth, only second to wolverine.

Now we are ready to go play, little Alaskan boy!

Danial had the day off, so we had a relaxing morning at the house and then spent the rest of the day doing long-overdue chores.

We went on a walk yesterday and tried out Kadin's new fancy backpack... Danial loved it and it appears that Kadin did too!  He stayed awake longer than usual since he can look around so much more easily.  He was also toasty warm in his new (to him) snowsuit!

Everyone who held Kadin recently told us that we really needed to get a Johnny Jump-up for him (because he was literally tiring them out, jumping up and down on their laps) and they were right!  He absolutely loves it.

Long miserable day in Anchorage but at least we got the recycling taken care of and a bunch of baby things we needed - more clothes (he's growing fast!) and a Johnny Jump-up because he's a jumping machine!
